Netool Adds More Features, Pricing Options (IT Toolbox Blogs)

It’s always nice when a good idea comes along, and even better when that good idea comes in the form of a decent, affordable networking tool. And.. it’s a bonus when that tool gets even better with time, and that’s what we’re seeing from the Netool of late. I first got wind of both the company and the product last October, and introduced them here in this blog. I’ve seen the awareness of Netool grow among those likely to use this sort of pocket-sized tester, and most recently saw a handful of lucky winners take home their own Netool as a door prize given out at the 2017 Wireless LAN Professionals Conference.

In case you missed it the first time around, here’s just a bit of what Netool can do:

  • It fits in your pocket
  • It charges its internal battery from a USB cable
  • It uses an app (Android or iOS) as a user interface
  • It identifies just about anything an installer could need to know about a live enterprise or SMB switch port configuration
  • It stores it records in the cloud, and provides decent reporting

The developers of the Netool are not letting any grass grow beneath the product. Though the tester is still fairly new to market, the original functionality has been added to greatly. The company is listening to its users, and I’m happy to have contributed my own feedback along the way. It’s not very often that you get to interface with the people that directly shape a product and it’s refreshing when you know that your voice has been heard and turned into a feature or improved process.

One of the things that I really like about that side of the relationship as a Netool user is the product blog. You learn what is being added or tweaked with each update, and often what you find reflects the creativity of the Netool development team and how flexible they see this little tester to be. Case in point- on February 13, simple “router mode” was added to the Netool allowing it to function as… well, a little wireless router. Very handy.

Here’s a screenshot of the router option:

Beyond new features and the blog that lets you know what is cooking inside the Netool, the company has also made new package options available as well, with discounts for bulk purchases.
